Minha - Lecture Journal

A journal that reflects your journey of becoming. The lectures you choose to save gradually become a reflection of your questions, your interests, your values, and your growth.

A quick story about Minha

Minha is inspired by the Arabic word مِنْحَة (Minḥah), meaning a gift, a blessing, or something graciously given. And, every meaningful lecture is a gift of knowledge. Minha exists to help you keep those gifts close.

Why Minha exists

Since January 2026, I fall in love with listening to Islamic lectures. I would listen to these lectures while dressing up, preparing meals, driving or while getting to sleep. It helps with understanding of Islam, and connecting the dots of Islamic studies. Over time, I would forget the insights I get from previous listenings. This frustrated me so much.

I used to lose the video lectures thru watch histories, so I tried copy and paste links into note app. This also so disorganised that the notes would be all over the places and makes it difficult for me to find certain notes.

The challenge

The challenge wasn’t simply extracting transcripts. The challenge was turning long-form educational content into something meaningful enough for people to return to.

• Share: Minha starts where the user already is. Share a lecture directly into the app rather than asking them to copy links manually.

• Save: Save any video links (youtube, tiktok etc.) into Minha for when you want to watch the lecture again without the need to dive deep into watch histories.

• Extract: The lecture is transcribed and processed into structured notes.

• Reflect: Important ideas become something the user can revisit rather than something consumed once.

• Track growth: Using tags to mark what topics you’ve been diving into lately. Witness your journey of becoming.

Design decisions

Minha deals with reflective content, so I didn’t want the interface competing with the content itself. I kept the visual system restrained: thin borders, generous spacing, translucent surfaces, and typography that gives the words room to breathe.

Outcome

Minha launched publicly in 2026 on Apple App Store. We’re currently learning from early users and iterating on the experience.

What I learn

Building Minha changed how I think about AI products. The difficult part wasn’t getting an LLM to produce beautiful text. It was deciding what the model should be responsible for—and what the product itself should own.
